This image is from a photo I took on the HG Hills property In Nashville. According to the web site, This forest "is considered the largest old-growth forest in an urban area east of the Mississippi River." The trees are huge. There are giant trees that have fallen all over the area I walking in. This is a painting of a fallen tree and a fallen branch from a tree. It was amazing to see.
First I did a pen & ink of the forest and then I started the painting which is 10" x 20". I decided to do it in acrylic. I drew it off on the gallery wrap canvas. I didn't want the graphite to mix with my paint so I sprayed it with water and wiped the excess graphite off with a paper towel. Then I could start my painting. I really enjoyed this one. I'll be taking it to the DAC tomorrow in Clarksville for the "Annual Regional Juried Art Expo". It will be on display at the DAC until September. It is for sale and needing a home.
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
