The commission piece I'm working on is doing very well, The gouache worked perfectly.I didn't have to "can" the second painting, yet!. I was able to save the painting in time for my client to stop by and tell me which direction to go next. It's a watercolor painting and she decided she wants to add just a little ink for accents. I was hoping she would go with the ink. I love working with ink. It gives the painting a crispness I like. The painting should leave here Friday, but I don't know when she will present it as a gift. I wish I could share it but I can't just yet.
I was looking up while I was typing the first paragraph and the photo above is what I see. Pen and Ink drawings I've done, one is an 18"x24", that's a big pen and ink. Mark marking, why do I love to do it. why do I draw? I've always been able to draw. When I went to school in 1st grade, the other students were amazed. They would ask me to draw pictures for them. It got me a lot of attention and I loved drawing for them. Making the marks that build into shapes and forms. The contour lines that say so much about the subject. I build up the marks and layer them carefully to tell the viewer something about what I want to share.
I've been at the studio to work on the commission and I sitting here waiting for it to dry, so I can get busy again. It's been a great day at the Studio.
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
