Conte on Mylar 16" x 12
At one of the workshops I attended for art teachers at SCAD, we learned about Mylar. It's a transparent film drawing surface. The photo to the right was done with Conte on Mylar, which is one of my favorite combinations. The instructor also had us draw a person with charcoal (from magazines photos) and then take an eraser to our drawing with our eyes closed. We were to make marks with the eraser and a lot of them. That was hard for me to purposely deface my own drawing, although he thought of it as enhancing the image . The photo below is from the same workshop where I used the eraser. I would like to try this technique again sometime but with my eyes open. I would also have a better idea of what I would want my final image to look like. It was however a great workshop but I never asked my students to do the "close you eyes eraser part".
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
