My caricature of David on his Hardy!
For years, I thought I'd like to do caricatures of people but I was just afraid to even try. But today I attended a Caricature Workshop with Clarksville artist Randy Spurgeon. I learned so much and I thoroughly enjoyed the three hour workshop. I'm still afraid to jump right in there but with a lot of practice, I just might be able to do it without hurting someone's feelings. Watching Randy work today was humbling, the sureness of each line. He uses lines that represented movement, symbols to convey a message and contour lines to capture the subject in such a fun way. He is so gifted. Randy said he also does watercolors. I didn't have to opportunity to see his watercolors but I hope to soon. The workshop was through the Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council. Below are the two caricatures of me that Randy did, I look 30 years younger, I really love them.
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
