I framed, order plexiglas, cut mats, cut backings, wrote out the show inventory and picked up plexiglas today. Tonight, I'm starting the title blocks. It will be more of the same tomorrow. I hang the show Sunday at the DAC (Downtown Artist Co-op) in Clarksville. Yes, I have a lot of work to do. Opening Reception Jan. 7th 5- 8 . . . y'all come!
Yes, I put the finishing touches on Dec. 24th. Thank goodness it was for family and they were more understanding than most. It was a rough Dec. Honestly, moving my studio the end of Nov, first of Dec. was not the smartest thing I've ever done. Plus, I was sick with a cold like bug for two plus weeks. And, I participated in three crafts/bazaar events. Now, I have to frame and mat a few more paintings for my show at the DAC. Everything has to be up and ready by January 4th. The Opening Reception is Thursday, January 7!!!!

I've been working hard to get the studio ready. I did paint one day and draw one day but other than that, I've been organizing and cleaning the place. Also, I have a "bug" too. So one day I was at the doctors. Tomorrow, I should be done. I should be painting by tomorrow afternoon.
My son asked me to do a charcoal drawing from a photo by photographer Deanna Hampton.. Deanna did most of the work, it's her composition and she captured the lighting. I worked from her image to turn it into a charcoal drawing on toned blue gray paper (this photo does not show the true colors). It was a gift to my daughter in law for her birthday today. Yes, those are my beautiful grandchildren. Below are some photos of the process I used. Also, Deanna Hampton also does photography workshops! http://www.deanna-hampton.com/#new-page-2
Today was my first day to paint in the new studio. I did these tiny canvases for tree ornaments. I still have to put a ribbon around them and I will add a bird on the snowy trees. Tomorrow is the Erin Holiday Arts and Craft show form 9-5 at the city hall. My Erin Christmas Cards came in today and I'll have them at the Show Friday and in the studio for sale. Also, the Downtown Artist Co-op on Franklin St in Clarksville is has their Christmas Bazaar starting tonight until Dec. 23.. I have a few holiday gift ideas there too.
The new studio is a huge mess! It will take a while to get all the artwork on the walls and I have to find a place for everything.
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
