I headed to the studio to work today and when I got there I had a visitor waiting for me on my drawing board. I sat down before I noticed him. He was cold so he didn't move hardly at all. I did notice he looked a little dehydrated and provided some refreshment for him. He was extremely thirsty. About two weeks ago I thought we had had a small earthquake or my neighbors had been hamming on the walls next door. My artwork on one wall was hanging lopsided and items had been knocked off the shelves.. Well now I know it was the snake exploring around the studio. He must of come in to get warm.
I'm not afraid of snakes and I've always been reptile friendly. I've even had a few iguanas as pets. As a kid I always wanted a snake as a pet but my mother would NOT agree to that but lizards were ok! I finished the last of the plein air paintings I started in Monteagle today. I worked on it yesterday and I tried to use masking fluid on it. I had two different kinds on hand. The first one was clogged, it has a fine needle like applicator. I tried the second one which has a regular tip on it. It was clogged too. So I removed the tip and applied it to the painting and noticed an unpleasant smell. I got some on my hands. I went to rub it off like you would do with rubber clement and it had turned rancid. Oh it smelled soooo bad and the more I rubbed the worst it smelled.
It was a wonderful fall day and I worked all day in the studio. I finished this Monteagle plein air piece and the other one almost done. I managed to get a lot done on the commissioned piece. I feel pretty good about what I accomplished in 8 hours today. I'll be at it again tomorrow. I love being back in the studio, working!!
I got up early to go to the gym and then to vote. I went with my husband shopping for shoes. We thought we would go to Jackson, Tn, that was a long ride but I got a very good lunch out of it. I got home and headed to the studio. I got the old watercolors out to work on a commission and touching up the plein air paintings I did in Monteagle. I did not get anything finished up. While I was working I looked up at my clock and panicked, I was only going to work until 6:00 and it was 20 til 7. I rushed home to realize I hadn't set back my clock in the studio. DUMB ME! I'll be working at the studio all day tomorrow.
October kept me hopping! I had a good time painting the great out doors with good friends. I managed to bring home some prize monies last month too. I got away to Monteagle with friends and saw some old friends from when I lived in the Atlanta area. I blogged earlier that I placed in the Hoptown Paint Out at the first of the month. Well, I won the Quick Draw at the 2 Rivers Paint Out / Clarksville. I also placed in the Pennyroyal Exhibition in Kentucky with two honorable mentions. One in painting and one in drawing. The trip to Monteagle was beautiful and I got two good paintings from there . I can't believe October is gone and November is here!! I have two Christmas commissions I've got to get out and a few Christmas shows to be painting for. I need things to slow down just a little!
