I cleaned the carpet last night and now we are ready to move. Hopefully by tonight we will have all the heavy stuff in. The bathroom is looking good, new floor and it still needs the sink installed. David has already put the utility sink in one of the closets.. I''m going to be so tired and I'm cooking Thanksgiving dinner too. Hey, I'm so thankful for all of it, family, friends, home, church and my art studio. Have a wonderfully happy Thanksgiving everyone.

![]() I still don't have my glasses but I did find my prescription reading glasses . I was able to finish the little card today. I will be selling them at the Houston County Christmas Craft Show on the first Friday in December at City Hall. Let me know if you are interested. I packed up a box full of stuff to move today. We took the cabinets off the wall and we will mount them tomorrow. Then I'll clean the carpets. I'm not stressed yet, I will be after Thanksgiving!! Thanks goodness for good friends and family. Our friend Jeff helped David all day today and my sister worked yesterday! The new studio space is coming along nicely. Below are photos of the wall. The wall is made of oak, rough lumber horizontal boards. It was there is the building when I got there. I started to do away with it at first. But I reconsidered, I thought it would make a great background for portraits / figurative drawings. Or a nice wall for plein air and barn paintings. The 10' wide wall was right in the middle and diagonal. A lot of wasted space. So we cut it in half and made a petition and a backdrop out of it. I'm so tired but we are getting close to moving in.
We helped haul off wood today from my new studio! Lots of wood! My Landlord worked getting some stuff out from the previous renter and we helped ! It's looking a lot better now. I start cleaning and planning tomorrow. I'm excited. Thanks to my sweet hubby for all the help as usual.
I'll be moving my studio to 4682 East Main ST. in Erin. I've been wanting more light and northern light for the studio. I'll be on the main highway through Erin on Hwy 49. I'm very excited and dreading it at the same time. I have a lot of STUFF to move. My two sons and friends told me they would help me. It's on the other side of the block from where I am now. It will be a lot of work for about a week and I will move December 1.
This time my glasses couldn't be repaired. My new pair should be here the first of next week. I'm afraid to draw anything, I have a astigmatism in each eye so my drawings can lean a little and I don't see it with out my glasses. I did clean up the studio a little but I didn't get any artwork done. It really felt like a wasted week and I haven't touched the commission. I've got to get those glasses and get really busy to get caught up.
Monday night I presented a short talk about my art and my illustrations I've done for authors at the " Creative Hands & Minds Event:". The Creative Writing Contest and Art Contest was open to all students that are residents of Houston County (private , public or home schooled). The contest was open to students from 2nd grade to 12th grade. Author Michael Shoulders, known for his ABC books presented as well on Monday night, I really enjoyed his presentation. After the my talk, the students received their awards. The ARTWORK was wonderful and I received a literary journal of the students writings and artworks to enjoy at my leisure. I also spoke with some students one on one who had questions. I think that was my favorite part of the evening. Thanks to all who supported this wonderful project for our talented kids in Houston County. A GREAT evening. .
It was a busy week end. The Clarksville art walk was Thursday and I stopped in at the DAC for Peggy Bonnington's show and the TnWS (Tennessee Watercolor Society REG II) show at the Smith Trahern. Saturday I participated in the Erin Crafts and vendor show. Monday night, I presented a short presentation of my work at the Creative Hands Award program. So I've been arting but not doing any actual artwork.
I'm blogging this morning, usually I write in my blog at night at the end of my day. I sat down last night and since I'm working on a commission and I can't share my work yet, I didn't write anything last night.
I went to bed thinking I hadn't done much artwork this year and now it's Nov. Where had my year gone? So this morning I counted how many works I did this year. 33 artworks I've done this year. A few commissions, Twelve drawings, mostly 9" x 6" and pen & ink but some larger. Plein Air came in next with 9 paintings in acrylic. The others were done in the studio, mostly watercolor. I've had a very good year, I still have a couple of commission to get done before the Holidays. I'm feeling a lot better now. Y'all have a great day. I will, I'm painting with friends today. I will be participating in the 1st Annual Pre-Holiday Craft and Vendor Showcase in Erin, TN this Saturday. I will be selling small works at the showcase. It's a free event and refreshments will be served. If anyone is interested in larger works, my studio is across the street.
Also, Thursday is the art crawl in Clarksville, TN 5-8. I have work at the Smith Trahern House in the Tn Watercolor Society Show. I also have work displayed at the DAC (Downtwon Artist Co-op) on Franklin, TN in Clarksville. I'll split my time between the two venues. It's busy week for me. |
