My friends, Amy & Kenny have a beautiful home on a creek in Houston County. There is also an old doctor's office near the house, to the left of the house sitting back a little. There are huge trees, a gorgeous creek, a barn across the road and in the Spring, lots of wildflowers. It's a perfect place to paint and I do appreciate them letting us paint there. It is picture perfect, and lots of pictures.
I painted two days in Downtown Clarksville, at the annual 2Rivers Paint Out. I also participated in the quick draw. I'll post it later, it's still at the studio along with the other painting I did.
A wonderful morning at Radnor Lake learning about watercolor plein air painting
Another artist friend and I traveled to Radnor Lake in Nashville for a watercolor plein air demo by Judson Newbern. The event was sponsored by the Chestnut Group. Members of the Chestnut's donate their time and talents for workshops during the Paint Your Hearts Out workshop fundraiser event. I always try to take advantage of the wonderful and helpful workshops.

I will have 6 to 8 works at the exhibit during October at the DAC Gallery. Our group tries to paint together every Monday morning. We have never had a show together before. One thing you might notice is the subject matter may be the same. We all paint differently and/or use different media. Leah, Mary, Eunice and I do watercolor. Betty is our pastel artist. Henrietta, Yuson, Jo and Betty use oils most of the time. Gail uses acrylic paints. The subject matter may be the same but they will be very different.
If it's too hot or too cold, we try to meet at the DAC and paint a still life from a set up. Everyone is super nice in the group and we always enjoy our time painting.
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
