The Walls Art Park in Waverly, TN (https://www.facebook.com/waverlywalls/) is one of my favorite spots to visit. The art is displayed, painted over and the new art comes in. Their facebook page has a few video and photos. Their website has a complete gallery of photos! It is located at 220 South Clydeton Rd 37185 in Waverly!

My eleven year old grand daughter participated with me in a show at the DAC. DAC & Friends was held this month in Clarksville. They didn't have a reception because of covid 19 but that's alright. I'm very proud of this wonderfully creative young lady. She has enjoyed doing art all her little life.
I"ve been practicing the technique I was taught in the Workshop with Marjorie Hicks the first of the month. Instead of painting over the value painting I did during the workshop, I did another one. Then I added color on top of the new value study. The photos below are a result of the workshop. The man on the beach, I have warmed up the shadow. It looks better now, I having taken a photo of it yet. I really have enjoyed the gesture paintings. Thanks to Marjorie Hicks and the Chestnut Group for this wonderful one day workshop.
Every Spring and Fall I like to go to the mountains and paint on location. Right now I'm planning on returning to the Monteagle area to paint in late October. I thought y'all might be interested to see what happens to a scene once I paint it without the aid of a photograph. Most of the time, I will photograph the scene when I leave .
The fall is actually easier painting, the Spring sometimes comes with a lot of wind and rain. If you are using watercolor, RAIN is a devastate. I'm a fair weather Plein Air Painter. It is the greatest compliment when a patron invites an artwork into their home that I have created. A painting that becomes part of that family. I hope every time they look at it, it will bring them great joy. I would like to thank Bill and Linda for their support of me through the years. I greatly appreciate it.
I went into the studio this afternoon to finish the 3 piece from the workshop yesterday. I really like doing these figure gestures but so much depends on your model or getting some good shots. The sun or lighting has to be right or it's just not the same. I do need to get out there with the camera, soon.
Below are a few process shots. Thanks again to Marjorie Hicks for sharing her skills and talents with us, to go see Marjorie Hicks Art click here! Today I attended Marjorie Hicks's worksop: Human Gesture Painting/Drawing!
Marjorie is a fantastic instructor and artist. Check out her website: click here We attended via ZOOM, I loved not having to drive to Nashville, I had all my supplies right there in the studio. NO packing, no driving - it was nice. I enjoyed painting and learning with Marjorie. If you get a chance to take one of her workshops, do it! She's GREAT! The workshop is part of the Chestnut Group, plein air painters for the land. It is part of their PYHO (Paint Your Heart Out) workshops offered by their members. I finished up this acrylic 12" x 12" of a local barn. I can't remember if it's in Montgomery or Houston County. I painted on a Birch painting panel that I had prepared with Gesso. I especially enjoyed working on the board and I enjoyed this size to work with. Below are a few photos taken during the process. It is for sale, if interested click the link for the contact form! Thanks for looking.
