New Sidewalk - Great but . . .

9/28/2017

While they were working on the sidewalk in front of my studio, they decided to put in a new water line.  So I moved all my stuff away from the wall they were working on.  I came in today to put everything back but the dust was awful.  I had to get a damp rag and clean everything.  I rearranged the drawing boards and we will see how they work out next week.  This has taken up most of my week.  I did get a lot of matting done on Monday when they were just getting started.  I cut 10 double mats and actually got the drawings placed in each mat with a back board.  David is working on frames for me. When they are done, I'll just pop them in.  I have two big shows coming up the first of the year. I'm trying to get things done and not wait until the last minute.  And the sidewalks, they are going to be soooo nice, they were really awful!!

I'm trying to decide on a few artworks to go to the Clarksville Hospital for the 4th or 5th floor.  I'm to display work there starting in Oct. and will be up until the end of December.  I think I'll start with a pen and ink display in Oct. and change it out for plein air in November.  December, it will be all mixed up!  I'll be putting it up in the next few days.

Drawing while sitting at the County Fair

I was pulling my duty watching the Exhibit Hall at our county fair for 6 hours.  I came prepared with pad and sharpie, so I drew this while I was there.  The time went by very quickly.  It still needs a little work for contrast but I'm happy with it.

I'm Missing Painting Outdoors!

Two years ago I painted these and a few more while I was in Cades Cove Tennessee..  Artist Kevin Menck puts together the retreat to the mountains every year and we all have a wonderful time.  I've missed the last two years because I volunteer at the County Fair and I'm really missing it.  This time of year is the best time to get some "Plein Air Painting " done.   I've got to get out there.

sorry, but true!  I'm getting ready for the Houston County Fair and I've been busy all last week getting the sign up sheets and notebooks ready for the exhibitors to sign in on.  Next week in the FAIR starting Wednesday.  I can't believe it's here and I'll be glad when its over.  I hope everyone enjoys it and has a BLAST!  It takes a lot of volunteers to pull off a FAIR!!

Painting with a friend in Clarksville on Monday, at the Train Depot.
Tuesday I delivered two artworks to the Riverfest Juried Show in Clarksville. Then stopped off to meet with the printers to start getting the word out on the 2018 Tennessee Watercolor Society Exhibition that will be at the Customs House Museum in Clarksville May - July!!!  I was to help a friend put up her artwork at the Clarksville Athletic Club but the last artist hadn't retrieved their work yet.

So Thursday is the Clarksville Art Walk and I'll have artworks in three venues.
Riverfest at Wilma Rudolph Event Center., The TnWatercolor society's annual show at the Smith-Trahern Mansion and the DAC Gallery on Franklin St.
