I worked at the Houston County Chamber today to paint the windows for the "Town Square Dedication". We got new side walk and theyare beautiful. The town of Erin is celebrating tomorrow from noon to 4. It should be fun! There will be a ribbon cutting at the entrance to Betsy Ligon Park. There will be door prizes, refreshments and music throughout the afternoon.

I think, I hope this is finished for the church cook book. I now need to get started on another freebie job. I do a few of those every year. They are usually fun stuff for worthy organizations. I really enjoy what I do. I also have a show coming up in Murfreesboro, TN in October, I'm ready for it.
Today was my first day back to the art studio since the County Fair got under way. The Fair was great and so was our first Goat beauty contest, King Puck, it was a lot of fun. I was so glad to get back to work today. I still have to put a few more details on the church painting and I can call it finished. I hope to do that tomorrow.
I started the day painting on the "King Puck" back drop. The King Puck contest was artist friend Jacob's idea, who did the design for the contest. So today Jacob and I painted at the chamber, I did the orange part. Tomorrow the white paint goes on and the lettering. I left there and put some color wash on the church pen and ink. It bothers me the paper is so bumpy, I hope it's better tomorrow. Then I met my sister for dinner in Clarksville before going to the "Riverfest Juried Art Experience" Awards ceremony . I'm so happy I received a third place in professional painting. It was a great day. It was the same painting I won a third place last month at the DAC Juried Regional Show. I liked that painting when I did it, I'm liking it more and more now.
I'm working on a pen and ink with wash for the cover of the Cook Book our Church is putting together. This is the first stage. It's 11" x 14" This morning at the chamber I got to do this for the "King Puck" contest at the county fair this year. The Fair Opens Sept. 14th. King Puck is an Irish Celebration that we are including in our fair here in ERIN!! It's a 4' x 8'. A little difference in size for these two pieces. This is the first stage for this one too.
August was a true celebration for me. I celebrated five years of being Cancer Free. My cancer was found early (stage 1) Medullary Carcinoma of the Thyroid. I'm feeling healthy and blessed. I received news that I placed in two categories at the DAC Regional Juried Exhibition, painting and drawing. Last week-end I was honored with Viewer's Choice at Erin's "Sweet Tea and Southern Art" local showcase for Houston County and surrounding area. I had two solo shows for my artwork in August. I received so many wonderful comments about my work through these events. A young mother told me this was her favorite show she had seen at that location and she had been coming there for three years. So now, I'm feeling really GOOD, blessed, proud, healthy and very happy to say the least. Thank the Lord,
I do pray for those who are battling cancer and other life altering diseases. I pray for families who have to see their love ones go through their battle. I also pray for those parents who's children have had to pass on before them. I have been blessed, thank the Lord. . |
