![]() I'll be teaching drawing and watercolor in the studio tomorrow. After lunch today I touched up the drawing I started yesterday. Then I put in the sky with the watercolor. While that was drying, I set up the back room for the classes tomorrow. I friend called to go to dinner and when I got back, I masked out the tree and the lightest area in the foreground. My watercolors go really slow at first with all the masking. ![]() I've wanted to try Yupo Watercolor Paper for a while now and I did today. We had a mini workshop with Yupo and special watercolor paints that one of the artist shared with us in Clarksville. It was fun but not my cup of tea. If I was an non-objective artists, I would love this stuff. I have seen realistic paintings done on it too, they're very loose and beautiful colors. I also got a new watercolor drawn off today, I plan to paint tomorrow at the studio. ![]() I didn't get to the studio today, I had to run some errands. I found a display unit on Craigslist they were selling in Clarksville. I went down and bought it. While we were there we just took care of other busy. It was a beautiful day to be out running around so we came back through New Providence and took the fairy across the river to get home. Tomorrow I'll be back in Clarksville painting with a wonderful group of watercolor artists. ![]() The county fair was fun this morning, especially the chickens and after lunch I went to the studio to work. I finished the workshop pieces I did last week. I will be going to Dover for a church fall festival at St. Francis Oct 12 and I have to have some small paintings to sell. I spent some time painting backgrounds on canvases. Then to finish up the evening, we walked through the cruise-in on the square in Erin, a lot of really neat cars. Below are photos of the works before and after I finished them. After I looked at the photos side by side, I might should have left them alone. ![]() I didn't get to do any artwork today, just catching up on the busy side of art. Grandparent"s Day today at my little grand daughter's school. They had a little musical program where each grade performed, a tour of her classroom and then a reception. Both sets of grand parents were there (I'm so glad to be home) and little Kayla sat between us. I loved it. ![]() I enjoyed my day and as always, I learned a lot with artist Haden Pickel. This workshop was all about paint; thick, beautiful paint. I didn't do all that great as far as the painting goes, but I put a lot of paint on my palette and on the painting. My best artist friend Brooke would have been very proud of me today. We painted at Haden's house in her yard and her home, lawn and gardens were magnificent. And her studio was like a dream. Her work is beautiful and she is such a wonderful instructor. Our models today (we had two) were excellent. Thanks to the Chestnuts Group for this series of workshops! ![]() Sherry Levine presented a wonderful workshop today on Plein Air Painting. I always come away with something new and different to try. The painting isn't finished but it was done differently than I usually work. I always put my sky in first but not this time. This one started with a three value blocks. Then we paintied the darkest area next. Photos below of the workshop! I'll be at another workshop tomorrow with Haden Pickel. We will be painting the figure and I'm looking forward to it. Then I will be back at the studio for a while. I'm ready to get back, I'm getting too old for all this running around. Again, thank you to the Chestnut Group for providing all these workshops for their members, it has been wonderful to study with these artists. |
