I was so thrilled to learn that one of my Acrylic paintings "Day is Done" was accepted for the 9th Annual ISAP Open International Online Exhibition.. The show will be up on line in a few days, I'll send a link once its up!! I'm very excited.
The painting is one of my favorites. "Day is Done" was painted from an inspiration from a past Mother's Day. I had receive two flowers on Mother's Day, one from Church and one from the restaurant we eat at. I came home and placed both flowers in a vase. The rose had been damaged but it was still beautiful. The next day I came home from work late and the setting sun was shinning on the kitchen wall behind the flowers. That images hit me, so symbolic of our time here on earth.

I decided to make a few changes in the studio. The summer light was not being nice to my eyes. It's a lot better now that I moved the easel and work area around.
This week I had the opportunity to attend a Workshop presented by Tuva Stephens in Trenton, TN . She creates the most beautiful portraits of any artist I know. Check out her web site tuvastephens.com/ She is amazing. The workshop was two days and I learned so much about color and expressive portraits. This is the piece I painted in the two day workshop. LOVE the COLORS! Thanks you, TUVA, for an excellent experience. I loved every minute!!
Thanks so much to juror Marjorie Stewart Hicks for selecting my pen & ink for the 1st place award in Drawing during the annual DAC Regional Juried Art Exposition. The Exhibition runs through Aug. 25 at the Downtown Artist Co-op, 96 Franklin St., Clarksville, TN
