I'll be working at the studio most of the week. I've been working on sketches for a painting and now I'm ready to go forward. I have it all worked out in my head. I will be leaving the studio on Friday to do some figure drawing at Warehouse 521. This week is looking good for my art! Have a wonderful week everyone.
This is an idea we got from Tom Lynch's workshop, so I sat down and made one from sketch I did for an acrylic painting. I liked it so much, I did a workshop demo piece. I have several paintings that were studies for studio pieces I've done, so I'll be making a few of these. I took three down to the DAC (Downtown Artists Co-op) in Clarksville, TN.
My wonderful painting buddy, Judy stopped in with Birthday Cupcakes! They were delicious and a surprise! I loved them!!!!! I'm so fortunate to have Judy and Hilda as friends. We always have so much fun and we get some painting done too, sometimes. We paint together every Wednesday, but Hilda wasn't feeling well today. Thank you Judy, you're the best.
These were two plein air paintings I did a few years ago and never liked. They just weren't finished, looking to me, so yesterday I took pen and ink to them. It was fun and I like them better now.
Today I got my painting to the frameshop in Clarksville, took down the show at the Senior Citizens and went to the DAC Opening Reception. At the reception, I saw a childhood friend and neighbor, Wanda. I was so excited to see her again after all these years. Life is very good.
I actually worked at the studio yesterday and taught a drawing class. Today, I photographed some artwork and checked on framing prices while I was in Clarksville for a dentist appointment. Tomorrow, I'll paint with friends and work on a commission piece. Thursday I'll be back in Clarksville to take down a show of my work at the Senior Citizens Center and then on to the ART WALK and the Opening Reception at the DAC! (5-8). I have to start thinking about the "Sweet Tea and Southern ART" event here in Erin Aug 21-23
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
