I've been wanting to do this drawing of David for a long time and the DAC (Clarksville Downtown Co-op,) Regional Art Expo's deadline was this week end. I got ready to turn in artwork for the expos and realized I just didn't have much in drawing to enter this year. So, I got busy! I love the way it turned out, I turned it in today, It will be in the show the month of August at the DAC in Clarksville, TN. The opening reception will be Thursday, August 3, awards at 6:00. I so enjoyed doing this one. It's a charcoal on gray paper and white pencil. It really does look like him.

I start another commission tomorrow. When I hear the last one is delivered, I'll share it with everyone.
Some of my artists friends in Tennessee and Kentucky might be interested in the DAC Regional Art Expos. The Deadline is this week end to get your work in. Here's the link to the prospectus: www.downtownartistsco-op.com/call-to-artists.html I'll be at the DAC Sat, July 29th,pulling the morning shift! 9-1 I recreated this house from two photos, either one had the whole house visible, A photo of the left top side, so I was able to get some measurements. The other was the center of the house, which lead me to think in was a four column house and much smaller. The first door was not on the photo and the right end was gone. My client gave me some details about the house to help me out. It was fun listening to her stories of her childhood.. 11" x 14" Pen & Ink on illustration board.
I worked at the DAC Saturday morning and afterwards I traveled a couple of blocks to the Customs House Museum, downtown Clarksville, TN. I had already seem the present show, and loved, loved it. As part of the theme of African American Artworks of Paper the museum featured guest speaker Frank Morrison out of Atlanta. He is the illustrator of the book "The Quickest Kid in Clarksville. I so enjoyed his talk, he is one very interesting artist and soooo talented. Please, if you love drawing, printmaking and mark making, GO SEE THIS EXHIBIT at the Customs House Museum. It ends August 1st. It has works by Henry Ossawa Tanner, Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden and MORE>
