I worked at the studio today. It's the last of May and the rent is due on the studio. I not selling much work, but I'm working on my artwork. I started another painting. Yes, that means I'm working on two at one time. One is 16" x 12" and the other 18" x 24". I'll work on one, and while that one is drying, I'll work on the other one. Watercolor does require downtime. You can use a hair dryer but I prefer to just do two at once. It was warm in the studio today. We don’t have AC, just some big fans.

Some friends went to the Studio with me today, the same friends that helped me move in last March. They were impressed with the amount of work on the walls. I came home and did a note card in color pencil. Nice day!
Framing again, I framed 6 more paintings. I went Friday and purchased 4 more frames. I actually like framing because the work looks so much better once it's framed. Watercolors require the mats and the glass and it can get rather costly framing one. Again, acrylics and oils are cheaper to frame and display. Oil and acrylic just seem easier all the way around. Two of the paintings I touched-up before framing and they turned out nicely. Sunday, I rest but hope to be back at Tannery Monday to hang the work I framed.
We had a wonderful lunch for our artists painting a mural. They will be away from their studios for about a week. But, I should be there at my studio while they are gone. I did get some work done today.
I did some quick, small sketches for ideas for paintings. One is watercolor and the other is done in color pencil. They are actually note cards. I'm liking the chair and the shadows on the wall, which was in my kitchen!!
I stayed home today, had an appointment. So I sorted color pencils by cool and warm. Then I went through the photos I took at the bluegrass festival. I hope to work tomorrow.
We had a dancer for our model today. She was beautiful and elegant. I used color pencil most of the day. One artist painted in acrylic and others used pastels. There was some beautiful work done. I really enjoyed the day and talking with the other artists. Great day!!
The first drawing is a 5 minute drawing, then 10 minutes, and the last one was about 20 minutes. This is only 3 of the drawings done today. We did about 7to 8 drawing I left the Bluegrass Festival this morning with lots of photographs. I can still hear the music in my ears. So now, I need to get busy! I will be in a show with other arts in July and I have nothing new, except plein air paintings. I need some work that says more about me as an artist. I go tomorrow to draw from the model, I'm looking forward to that.
I messed up the other painting I started yesterday. So into the trash and back to the drawing board. I hate it when I botch a painting. Hey the drawing was good, but the paint - - not so hot. Like I said yesterday, too dark too soon. When will I ever learn? Sometimes, I really hate watercolor. I did start the new one, I hope this one goes together better.
I think I got some great photos today. Two groups were practicing in the campground and were nice enough to let me photograph them. One group had a stand-up bass and the other an electric. For the art work I would prefer a stand-up bass! But, I got some great shots of the guy on the electric bass singing. All the band members had great faces to draw.. I also got one small watercolor finished. The larger one, I might have gotten to dark too soon. That seems to me one of my many problems.
