On Wednesdays I volunteer at the Chamber of Commerce in Houston County. Two of my art friends come and we paint or draw together and share ideas. Then one of us goes to get Pizza. It's always fun. No one came today, I never even touched my paints. It was busier than usual at the Chamber with the BIG St. Paddy's Day Celebration coming up on the 19th of March. I handed out a lot of Vendor Booth Apps and a Parade Application too. I sure missed my friends yesterday.

Some of my Pen & Ink drawings will be at the Clarksville - Montgomery County Library until the end of April.. They are in the "Childrens Gallery" on the 2nd floor. Please, Stop by if you get a chance. I would appreciate it so much.
I finished today! At least I think it's finished, David doesn't look like himself and I'm not happy with the face. Our dog actually looks like her, she's not three legged, she is scratching as usual. Below are step by step photos in case you didn't see them before. I had a great day at the studio. I always feel good when I finish a painting or drawing. And, I called an Artist friend / best friend in GA. today for her birthday and it was wonderful to chat with her again. Happy Birthday Brooke!
I worked yesterday afternoon and most of the day today. I should finish this watercolor tomorrow. I'll go in and study the painting, turn it in every direction, look at it at a distances, etc. Then I'll correct it. Study it again, and put the finishing touches on it. I'm happy, I think, with it so far. I'll post the finished painting tomorrow night - weather permitting. It won't look that different when finished. You might not notice a difference, but I will. I enjoyed my day at the studio.
It's been very slow going on this watercolor I'm doing. I've been sick. I did go to the studio three times last week but I came home early to rest each time. I'm feeling better today. I got to the studio about 10 this morning and left at 6. I got a lot done and hope to finish Thursday or Friday.
It's also contest time with all the organizations I belong to. I found out real fast that I didn't get enough work done last year that qualify for these competitions. So I looked back over what I have. These exhibitions have a time limit on works you can enter. Most competitions give an artwork a 3 years limit, a few give two years. You need to be careful sometimes and not part with a painting too soon if you think it has a chance to get into a juried exhibit or better yet, place in a exhibition. Something I learned this year, because its never been a problem before, don't work too small. I did a piece I was planning since July to enter into the Tn Watercolor Society. The MINIMUM size !!! One exhibition was 11 x 14" or 154 square inches, another one posted no smaller than 10" on the smallest side and I can't remember what the other required. My painting was 8" x 16". I'm not a happy camper right now and I'm sick on top of disappointment!!! But, I did enjoy my day at the studio painting today. I'm feeling better and I had fun. |
