Years ago I took this photograph at Harlinsdale Farm in Williamson County, TN. The farm was home to Midnight Sun, he became the World Champion of The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in 1945 and 1946. I've been wanting to paint this and last week I did. I managed to work on it using watercolor between drying times on an Acrylic commissioned piece I'm working on.
See below for the pics of the watercolor process for this work..
Because of the Covid Virus, I didn't paint many ornaments last holiday season. If someone requested them, I painted them. While I had the paints out, I painted a few extra. My sister asked me to do the Christ Child for her, she needed five. I only had four of the 2inch square canvases left. So I painted five of the 2" x 4" and the four 2" x 2" and let her pick. I had some request for the mockingbirds, so they were already promised. I packed up what was left over into clear plastic boxes. I've never packaged them up before, I think they looked really good in the boxes.
I've spent some time updating the Painting Gallery on my Website: j Felts Art! I put nine paintings up, I have more than that to sale but I try to just feature a few on the site. Just click the menu under Art Galleries or click this link: https://www.jfeltsart.com/painting-gallery.html
Drawing and Digital galleries have not been updated but soon!
If you are in the Houston County area any time, stop by the studio. I'm not always there but I can be at the studio within a few minutes if you call or text me. I just live 3 miles away. I'd love for you to stop in , sit and chat. You can see what I'm working on at the time.
Yes, looking back at 2021 as far as my Artwork, it was a very good year. Except for the studio getting flooded and breaking my rib. I had three group shows and did more plein air painting locally. I managed to get into four great workshops. I was blessed with several commissions, which I let a few get away before I got photos of them. I made a few new friends and got to spend more time with art friends. I also sold most every painting I painted, again, I didn't get photos of them all. I hate Covid was still around. I lost some friends and acquaintances to Covid. I got to babysit two precious cats for family that were hospitalized with the virus. They were very special kitties. I was blessed that my immediate family pulled through the virus. I want to thank all of you for all your support!
After the studio flooding in August. Then a broken rib and punctured lung, I finished my last commission piece. It was just a little hole in the lung but the flood took forever to get cleaned up after. I'm proud of the commission and my client was very happy with it. The photo is not the best, I took it with my phone. Thanks to Lisa for the opportunity to do this watercolor for her, I hope the family enjoy the painting as much as I enjoyed painting it.
Below are the processive steps to this painting, you will see correction steps too!
Happy New Year Everyone!
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
