One of my favorite pen & ink , "Sycamores Beside the Road", has a new home as of yesterday. Thanks artist Bob Privett, it's going on a special wall of artworks by fellow DAC artists.
The show came down yesterday and the paintings and drawing below have new homes. I hope these patrons of the arts love these pieces forever! Thank you all so much.
The exhibit at the DAC comes down Friday night. I'm sad to see it go, I really enjoyed seeing my work up and displayed in such a beautiful venue. Seven of the paintings will be going to new homes. I hope they love them forever.
I've been working on a new watercolor this week. I drew it out and masked out the white areas. I should start putting some paint down tomorrow. I'm excited.
The snow yesterday kept me from going into the studio . The roads were clear today so I spent 6 hours there painting.. The larger painting is a plein air I started but never finished of Rotary park in Clarksville. I've had it on my drawing board for a couple of months. I had to repaint the whole thing. Snow is predicted for tomorrow, so I brought some supplies home so I can work! I was a wonderful day.
I haven't painted in about two weeks. I've found the best way to get back into my work is to paint a mini or two. Today I painted a mini and a small 6" x 6" panel. I had a few errands to run this morning so I got to the studio around one. I'm pleased with what I did in just a few hours. It was a good day.
It was a nice cloudy day today. I got up and cleaned house. My sister came to visit and then we went to the studio. She hadn't seen the new studio yet. She really liked it, after she left I made three new gift bags. Now, I'm home for a relaxing evening of television.
Our plein air group hasn't painted since before the holidays. In an effort to get started again, we met and painted inside today. It was a little cold and wet outside so we headed to the DAC to paint. It was a wonderful place to be this morning. I did a pen and ink of Betty (the one behind the easel) and I gave it to her before we left for the day. I came back to the studio and cleaned a little before I came home. A very nice day, I enjoyed it, rain and all.
My solo exhibit " freedom to explore" turnout fabulous. Lots of classmates, church family, friends, artists and family attended. We had a crowd at the DAC last Thursday. I was surprised and so proud. I saw two people I haven't seem in 40 + years. So many people were so complimentary of my artworks. .Several paintings and drawings found new homes, I hope my new collectors will be as happy with them as I was creating them. Every time they pass them, I hope they smile and wonderful thoughts go through their minds and hearts. Thanks so much for every one coming out. The show will be up at the DAC through the month of January. They are open Wed - Friday 12- 4 and Sat. 10-4. I had such a great night.
My solo show at the DAC opens tomorrow. The reception starts at 5pm. Yes, I'm nervous and I won't sleep tonight. I hope to see some people I haven't seem in a long time. Clarksville my hometown, and there is a chance of seeing old friends again. Then there is the opportunity to see how people perceive my work. It will be a good night, I'm sure.
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
