I have to get to the studio this morning because I goofed off yesterday, all day. It was beautiful outside so I went for a ride to a few close by state parks. So now I have to get some stuff done. I need to check on the commission, seal it and frame it. Then some friends are meeting at the studio, so I need to get this all done before they get here because next week is already full. BYE, I'm out of here.

I finished the commission today but I will do a double take tomorrow to make sure it's right. Tuesday I was taking a break from the commission and decided to get the Yupo Paper out and try it again. I did this sketch in marker and it went dry so I finished in watercolor pencil. Then I strayed it with water. This will be start, many layers to come.
I also went to a meeting today with the 2 River Painters and as always, WE HAD FUN! It was a very good day. I had a doctor's appt. in Nashville today and then I stopped by Jerry's Artarama in Nashville. They have a lot of sales on now and if you purchase $75. or more you get $5. off.
I can't share the commission I'm working on because it's a gift. The photo above is a commission I did about 3 years ago. It's still one of my favorites. The house was green and surrounded by beautiful trees and plants. The piece I'm working on now is an acrylic painting and I worked most of the day today on it. I did have two visitors at the studio and I sold a couple of note cards. I did enjoy the company, making the day extra nice. .
This morning I met my friend Hilda at the studio to paint. Of course we talked too much, but we had to caught up. We had lunch together, she headed home. I came back to the studio to work on my commission piece. Then I sat back for a minute and counted my many, many blessing. I love my little studio, I love having my friends stop by and friends to paint with. I feel so blessed.
I repaired the pen & ink I posted the other day. The pole in the middle was too dark so today I went in and lightened it up. I like it now.
I also started a new commission today, first one of the new year. I am off to a good start, Yeah!! I just found out the mask I did for "Courage Unmasked" was sold. According to the web site, ' Proceeds from this event will go to the Caring Hearts Fund at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center to assist head and neck cancer patients who are experiencing financial difficulty'. I'm so glad it sold. Click here to see a video of all the mask in Nashville.
Also, the cold weather is causing me a little distress. When I get to the studio, it is so cold in there. I start the heater but it takes so long to warm up when the temperatures are 9 degrees out side! I can't draw or paint when my hands are so cold and it took about 3 hours to get warm in there. I went to the Studio early to finish the pen and ink. Pen and ink is my "calming medium". I enjoy the drawing process. I love developing the values and textures in pen and ink. Pen & Ink has always been my passion. I still need to check the drawing again tomorrow. I already see two things that need correcting, one pole is not reading right and is too dark at the top. It's always good to get away from your work and take a second look.
I've made it to the studio one day of 2015. I think I'm off to a very slow start. The hubby been sick and we have been working to finish this bathroom. Well, the bathroom is almost done. I'm excited and I'm frustrated all at the same time. But then I remembered where I was this time last year. I had just had surgery on my ankle and leg from a fall. I was pretty much home bound for the first month. My husband would drive me to the studio and pick me up for the next two months. The ankle and leg healed perfectly. So I decided to show photos of some of my accomplishments from 2014. I think 2015 will be even better.
I went to the studio today to work. I had drawn this off a while back and wanted to get it inked. I started and discovered the drawing was off. I had to stop and correct it and get the ink back out. I should finish it tomorrow,I need the water in the foreground..
