I'm working on a commissioned piece and life has toooo many interruptions. I had a family trip to the mountains and I got back Sunday. Today I had to go to Nashville to pick up paintings from a show at the Vanderbilt Club of Nashville.. A beautiful venue, the show was very impressive. I was very proud to have been part of the exhibit. Tomorrow it's a doctor's appointment and putting up a show at the DAC in the Retail Window for new members. Yes, I'm a new member so my work will be in the window. Yes, I'm trying to get my work done. I should be in the studio Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
A year ago today, I finished these mini paintings for a "Houston County Friends of the Library Fundraiser". The good news is, they sold them all! Mission Accomplished!
Sweet Tea and Southern ART was wonderful fun and wonderful art. All the artwork was so beautiful and it was GREAT being with all my friends and all the artists. Wonderful times in Erin last week end. Thanks to the Houston County ARt Council for the beautiful event.
Tomorrow is the last day of "Sweet Tea & Southern Art" and today we had visitors coming through all day. It was wonderful to see so many people walking through and commenting on the artworks. I stayed most of the day and talked with so many enjoyable people. It will be sad to see it end tomorrow, I always look so forward to this event every year. One of my paintings will be going to a new home once the show is over, "Thank YOU" so much MU!!
Sweet Tea & Southern ART, Sponsors Night was GREAT! Lots of ART & FRIENDS!! The Showcase of local Artists is free to the public, 10 am - 4 pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the Square in ERIN!

Each artist will be showing five piecess of art work, two dimensional work only. This event is hosted by the Houston County art council and they always do a beautiful job, quite impressive.
I drew at Warehouse 521 in Nashville last Friday. I did the two large drawings above. I love going to 521, the artists are wonderful. We visit and talk but when the model is in place, all is quiet and all are focused. It's so relaxing for me. I used charcoal this time and I'm going back next month, I think to paint. Jeanie, the owner of 521, has two models. One for short poses and one long pose. My model did fall asleep a few times, but that happens a lot after lunch.
Most of you know that I paint in Acrylics mostly, that and watercolor. So I wanted to share the palette I found at Jerry's Artarama in Nashville about a year ago. I love this Miijello palette, it keeps your acrylics wet for weeks. I don't waste my acrylics with this palette. Now, I've used it when I plein air paint and it's great most of the time. But if you're in the sun and/ or the wind is blowing - - nothing can help. Then I use my oils and not in this palette. I'll be honest! I first bought it because it was on sale. I then bought a second one, just in case I needed it. I did, I've taken one out for plein air painting and left the other one at the studio where I was painting a studio piece. Thanks
A showcase of local art! Houston , Montgomery, Stewart, Humphrey and Dickson County artists will show some of their works (five pieces for each artist). Aug.21-23! on the square in Erin,

Ice Tea and cookies served on day. Most of the artists will be there to talk about their work. I might not be there Sat. But I'll be there Friday and Sunday.
I painted with friends today: Judy, Jane & Hilda. As always we had a blast but we did actually get some work done too. We didn't say a word for about an hour we were so busy. We went to lunch together and continued to laugh and have fun. Another great day.
This is an adventure for me, something I've always wanted to do: to be a real Artist! So I rented a studio, lets see how it goes.
